About Frank’s Malawians
My Malawians are kept in tanks with crushed coral or play sand from Home Depot. I prefer a fine crushed coral substrate in my larger tanks to help save on buffer. I use Seachem Malawian buffer which pegs the pH at 8.3. I use to make my own buffer mix using any salt used to make up saltwater for marine tanks, baking soda and epsom salts, which also works great and for the hobbyists who have the time and want to save a little money is still a great alternative.
My baby Malawians get a quality crushed flake and NLS grow pellets. As they grow they get the NLS cichlid pellet and quality flake.
I am attempting to only post pictures of fish I have in stock. Thus is you see something you like please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Unfortunately I am not offering any shipping at the present time. I am located northwest of Pittsburgh, PA and about 2 hours away from Erie and Cleveland and central portions of Ohio. I have met many folks halfway on the road before between these locations and even further.
I am selling offspring from the awesome Red Fin Borleyi group below. The males are about the nicest I have seen. I am selling juvies in the 1″ to 1.5″ range at 5 for $30.
I also have a wild group of Malawian Trout cichlids in my 220 gallon show tank in my living room with the dominant male being over 14 inches. I am having trouble keeping these in stock but will update this post with the next fry batch.
Also have Lethrinops sp. Intermedius and Placidochromis sp. Phenochilus Tanzania fry for sale at $6 apiece or 6 for $30.
